SceneStart roadmap

A clear record of what is already live, what comes next, and what remains exploratory. This is a direction of travel, not a deadline or a promise to commercialize the project.

Ready to use now

Community-first foundation

SceneStart is the sole current name. Learning stays free, progress and projects stay on your device, and productions export as self-contained files.

  • No accounts, subscriptions, paywalls or analytics pixels
  • Deterministic effects, parameter remixing and source explanations
  • Preflight checks, local project files and offline export

Complete learning library

Twenty-one hands-on paths cover the sixteen foundation categories plus first effects, core craft, production design, release and typography.

  • Six playable labs with live Canvas previews
  • Visuals, sound, production, platforms and release journeys
  • Local progress tracking and role-based recommendations

Multi-scene Demo Studio

The Studio builds complete real-time productions instead of exporting a single effect.

  • Timed, reorderable scenes with parameters, messages and transitions
  • Play, pause, seek, save and reopen projects
  • Preview and offline export share the same renderer and clock

Guided first production

The Workshop is now a focused build that teaches an opening, escalation and ending one decision at a time.

  • A practical fifteen-minute route without a countdown
  • Complete production preview before export
  • The exact Workshop project can continue in Demo Studio
UP NEXT

Sound and synchronization

The next focus is a small browser-native soundtrack system that completes the audiovisual production loop without relying on a hosted generative-audio service.

  1. 01Add a procedural soundtrack and visible beat/bar cue track
  2. 02Use audio as the master production clock while keeping silent playback available
  3. 03Include sound in self-contained offline exports
  4. 04Extend rhythm, composition, tracker and sound-sync paths with audible experiments
LATER

Longer-term directions

Deeper craft and source study

Readable, reference and optimized effect studies with visible size and performance measurements.

Platforms, size coding and preservation

Reproducible browser/WASM, fantasy-console, oldskool and modern-PC exercises, including progressively tighter size limits.

Permission-based community showcase

Learner productions with factual credits, downloads, source links and learning context—without profiles, feeds or engagement metrics.

What will not change

Every learning path remains free. Existing local projects remain recoverable. New work must serve demoscene learning, making and preservation—not conversion metrics.
