Lessons
Films are shots, not scenes
A shot list is the practical unit of production. Write what the camera sees and how long it holds, and the edit half-exists already.
Opening, escalation, ending
Even ninety seconds needs somewhere to start, something to change and somewhere to land. Without the change it is a montage.
Sound carries the cut
Audiences forgive rough images far more than rough sound. Plan audio at the same time as the shots, not afterwards.
Shot list
Write between three and eight shots with durations. Include an opening, an escalation and an ending.
