3D Graphics

Guided Tool Path · ~20 MIN · FREE · LOCAL ONLY

Modelling, materials, lighting and rendering, taught as decisions rather than as menu clicks.

Plan a 3D still: subject, materials, three-point lighting and camera.

  • primitives and blockout
  • materials and roughness
  • three-point lighting
  • camera and framing
  • render settings

Lessons

  1. Blockout before detail

Every 3D scene starts as a few primitives in roughly the right places. Detail added before the blockout reads is detail thrown away.

  2. Three-point lighting

A key light defines the form, a fill light rescues the shadows, and a rim light separates the subject from the background. Most convincing renders are that simple.

  3. The camera is a choice

Focal length, angle and framing change the story more than the model does. Decide the shot before you polish the geometry.

Shot plan

Describe the whole shot: subject, material, three lights and the camera.

Where to do the real work

SCOPE · No 3D is rendered here. This path is the shot brief you take into Blender or an equivalent package.

FREE FOREVER · A future paid tier could add lighting studies with reference renders. The shot plan stays free.
